Hello! I'm a 22 y/o stay at home mom who loves to cook. With lots of time on my hands I developed quite an obsession with cooking (and recipes and anything connected to food!) In my kitchen, hearty foods = our main dishes. Fried chicken, pork chops, beans and rice, nothing fancy. I mainly cook for my hubby Michael, my two sons Aiden & Peyton, a couple of friends and myself. Michael eats a lot of the same stuff I do and my son will eat ANYTHING so having them around to test out my dishes helps a lot. I'm on here trying to broaden my knowledge of cooking and pick up a few new recipes along the way - friends are welcome too! If anyone ever wants to contact me, my email is: faithnettles@yahoo.com
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. Soups, breads, pies, meats, cakes, bbq, chicken dishes. I'm always willing to try something new as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I lived at home, mom was always the one cooking (dad didn't touch the kitchen). We didn't have many traditions though as we didn't have much money and most of our stuff was garden grown or hunted (we lived on a hunting club). Now my husband and I both cook and we're trying to start our own family traditions. Sweet potato pie @ all the major holidays, Pumpkin Loaves @ Thanksgiving & Pecan Pies @ Christmas! So many sweets - I plan to start new traditions when my boys get a little older and can help me out :)
My cooking triumphs
My meatloaf, sweet potato pie, fried potatoes, sausage gravy & homemade biscuits & my pork or venison barbecue. I'm proud of anything I cook that turns out well, though, as my mom never really taught me anything while I lived with her. She always wanted to be alone in the kitchen. Thankfully now she shares many recipes I remember from my childhood. I guess that's because she knows now I can't burn down her kitchen!
My cooking tragedies
A Manicotti dish (TOO much seasoning, the noodles didn't finish all the way and the sauce blackened!). My hubby won't go near that kind of pasta again!
