Easter Surprise

I love cooking, and I love having friends and family over for holidays, so of course that is what I did for Easter.  My special project for the day was a Dutch apple pie for which I even rendered my own leaf lard for the crust.  It turned out beautifully, and I was so proud of all of the work that I had put into it.  Easter morning I set it over on my dinning room table while I was preparing breakfast, and when I looked over my 14 pound Lhasa Apso had pushed one of the chairs out enough to get his front feet and head up on the table and was eating the pie!  He devoured about a quarter of it before I started yelling, and then sat there and looked at me with an innocent gaze.  My dear husband took me out for breakfast and bought a fresh strawberry pie that the cafe was selling so I would have something to feed everyone.  You never know what surprise you have waiting for you.
Easter was a great day anyway.
