About this Cook
I love the LORD with all of my heart, soul and being. I love my family, I have 4 children 3 girls and 1 boy all are grown and married. I have 7 granddaughters and one grandson and a new baby will be here in May. I am highly favored by the Lord and it dosen't get any better than this. I love people and am pretty easy going. I will listen to what your passion is if you listen to what I am passionate about. I am Blessed beyond comprehension and consider myself one lady that believes I live in the greatest country anywhere. I am patrotic to the depths of my soul.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything. I guess I would say I love to bake breads and desserts the most.I have baked mini loaves of bread for the visitors in my church for the past 6 years.I baked about 20 loves a week. My favorite to bake was Blueberry.I like to get in the kitchen and see what I can come up with on a whim without a recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Dinner without a doubt is my favorite time of year. I make fruitcake using the same recipe that my mother cooked every year. I am now 60 so for as far back as I can remember probally 50-55 years. I use the candy, cake, and pie recipes that my momma use for so many years even before I was born. It some how makes me feel like she is in the kitchen right beside me. My mother has been with the Lord for 14 years now but I still use the same mixer the same chopper the same recipes and it warms my heart to know that she taught me everything I know about cooking. Now I am passing all of thoes lessons and techniques on to my children and grandchildren. One my granddaughters her name is Payton age 7 refers to herself as the Rachel Ray girl. She stands in a chair right beside of me and helps me cook all the time.
My cooking triumphs
There have been many in the past 50 years but the one I remember the most was when my pecan pralines turned out as good as my mommas.
My cooking tragedies
These I try to forget but the most embarrasing was a pot of spaghetti. I had forgotten about making pasta for church. I rushed to get it cooked at the last minuet and it turned out pretty bad. I'm not sure what possessed me to take it anyway but I did. Sitting at the same table as my husband and myself was Pastors son. He looked up and said nobody at this table cooked this did they? Before I could muster up the answer he said this is awful my mom cooks way better than this. So I politely kept my mouth shut and was glad when that day was over and I went home with a crock pot full of awful pasta.

Daddy's 'If They'da had This at the Alamo we would'ha WON!' Texas Chili
I made this chili last night for Men's Night at our church. I was skeptical about making such a hugh amount. The crock pot left with 6 quarts in it and came back empty. I still had a lot left over for my family and then some to put in the freezer.I did omit all of the hot ingrediants, used 8 TBS of chili powder, regular paprika and regular oregano and no jalapeno. It is the perfect chili for myself because I cannot tolerate spicy food. This is the first time I have made Chili from scratch so please tell your Daddy thanks so very much. I do believe if they had this at the Alamo we would have won!!!
