I am single, but love to cook. I am always looking for new recipes to experiment and tweek with. I should of become a chef, but I like to keep my hobby, my hobby, not my job.
I have two adorable little kitties who drool and stalk the kitchen every time I'm in it.
My favorite things to cook
I love chicken and slow cooker recipes. Chili is best in winter and I love cooking soups. I don't find myself cooking much in the summer, too busy with social events.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to love Sunday nights because that was red meat night. Deep down I'm a meat and potatoes girl. My family was very methodical in there dinner line up. Monday was chicken night, Tuesday was some sort of casserole or soup night, Weds was fish night, Thursday was leftover night, Friday was take out night and Saturday was hamburger or hotdogs.
My cooking triumphs
My most two memorable cooking triumps took place as a teenager. That's when my mother started to make me cook dinners and that's when I learned to experiment. I always hated beef stew, one day I was going through our storage and found one of my grandmothers cookbooks. Some of the best, unhealthy, long time to prepare recipes. There I found a mouth watering beef stew that is a pain to make, but well worth it. Also, I found a wonderful meatloaf recipe that doesn't take like the meatloaf I grew up with at all. My triumph was bringing back the past.
My cooking tragedies
My biggest cooking tragedy was blowing up a stock pot. I thought if I turned the burner on high, my water would boil faster, instead I created a watery disaster. I'm a bit of a clutz and fortunately I have never been hurt. I have also blown up a Pyrex dish on accident by leaving it on a hot stove. Fortunately I was outside when it happened. My tragedies have to me how to pay attention. Oh yes, and I have yet to make a chicken fried steak that looks good to eat. It tastes wonderful, looks horrible.
