About this Cook
Married 45 years, mother of five, grandmother of 10, g.grandmother to two. of . Learned from mother's knee many generations of handed-down southern dishes. I must confess however that I enjoy eating others' favorite dishes than cooking my own.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy the quicker recipes because I seem to have little time to spend in preparation of meals. I'm always searching for something nutritious, tasty and easy to prepare. I enjoy cooking chicken dishes and desserts, recipes of which I can change around to make them my own.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family insists on turkey, ham, sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole for Thanksgiving. Oh, and don't forget the pumpkin pie. I always want a spiral sliced honey baked ham for Easter. Sundays, our day of worship and rest lead to lots of slow-cooker recipe meals, which I love.
My cooking triumphs
I found a really old Baptist Church cookbook at a friend's, and before she died she gave me a copy. In it I found a recipe called "Chicken-In-A-Biscuit", which I tried and took to a friend who had surgery. I was thrilled when she raved about the dish, later tried it with family and now it's requested by all.
My cooking tragedies
For years my family had come to our home for Thanksgiving dinner. But for three years straight I cooked the big bird in my oven, and burned it ever time. The last time the children put it on the deck and took pictures of it. My husband cried "UNCLE!!!" and purchased a roaster oven for me, which works just perfectly ever time.

Broccoli Chicken Delight
I loved this dish! It's so good. I've had it at church lots of times, but couldn't find the recipe. I'm so glad I found it here. It's really tasty.

Best Hamburger Ever
These were so moist, and had a really good flavor. I can't imagine them being any better, but next time I'll add the ingredients I didn't have at the time, which were rosemary, soy sauce and the chopped onion. Very, very good anyway.

Harvest Pork Stew
This stew was very tasty, and we really enjoyed it. I used yellow squash, and Braeburn apples. I don't know how it tastes with Butternut squash and McKintosh apples, but you can't get much better than this. Thanks for a really good recipe!
