I have enjoyed cooking since I was a child - about 10. My grandmother (who resided with us) and my mother were both wonderful cooks. I truly enjoy baking - especially desserts - and cooking and trying anything new. Now my daughter has taken up our "family cooking traditions". She is much more willing than I to to tackle our "old family" recipes such as "Apple strudle" and pierogies! She has become a wonderful cook as well! All our family celebrations centered around the cooking and baking!!!
My favorite things to cook
I love desserts and breads! Pasta is my second favorite to cook. I also love to try new soups.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking my Grandmothers 100 year-old recipies is something I enjoy. She was Hungarian and brought to America many recipies that are unheard of currently. I always love to bake her sweet-breads and "Hungarian" cookies and treats for the holidays.
I also love baking my Mom's recipies she invented. She could "make something great" out of the most common ingredients!
My cooking triumphs
I FINALLY have master pie crust!! I could not get the hang of it until I had my Mom living with me and sat down and watched me and demonstrated every single step!
My cooking tragedies
I was always used to cooking and baking with gas stoves and ovens. Then when i got married, all I had was electric! It was VERY difficult to get used to! I burned quite a few things!
