I was helping my mother-in-law cook, who happens to be a wonderful farm cook. Well, she had me make an extra batch of pecan pie, because she'd already made a batch, but she needed more to fill her deep dish pan. I hurriedly, and nervously, helped out, and when it was done cooking there was a whole cooked egg on top of the pie! To her that has defined my cooking skills ever since!
