About this Cook
I recently was married, so I'm interested in trying out new recipes for my husband! I teach middle school and coach the cheerleading squad, so I'm busy busy busy! I like quick, simple, and hearty meals!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake (my KitchenAid mixer was my favorite wedding present). I also like making traditional meals with a new twist!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has deep traditions in southern cooking - anything fried and with mayo! My mom and grandma's specialties are fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and chicken and dumplings.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made cookies "from scratch" a couple of years ago. Any baking success - the first time I made souffle, rolling out dough, making perfect pie!
My cooking tragedies
Also related to baking - mixing up baking powder and baking soda is a classic!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
This is my favorite cold night meal! It is super easy and delicious. I followed the recipe exactly - no additions at all. Turns out great every time!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
I did the same things as suggested but my cookies did not turn out very pretty. I added more sugar and then tossed in some powdered sugar as well. The cookies tasted great but when I rolled them out for cookie cutters they "melted" in the oven to big blobs! I made the rest into balls and they were great anyway!

Reindeer Snack Mix
This was addictive...but I made a few changes the second time I made this. I left out the Corn Chex, double the Bugles, and added walnuts as well. That's all personal taste though. Doubled the sauce and stated earlier and added a little more spice!
