My favorite things to cook
Chicken tortlla soup from scratch. Turkey or chicken piccata, wonderful roast chicken and my grandmother's pot roast. Sweet & sour pork, roast salmon. Lasagna & chili. Spaghetti sauce.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother's recipe for lemon cream pie (made with milk!) My mother's famous blasckberry cake with butterscotch fudge frosting. My best friend's mother's St. Timothy's Bread (for Christmas).
My cooking triumphs
Wonderful cheese souffle using hot milk suffused with garlic. All those other recipes above.
My cooking tragedies
I once ruined a favorite pan simmering artichokes in a non-boilable steamer rack. I have forgotten the dinner rolls heating in the oven until they were too dark to eat. I have exploded eggs trying to poach them in the microwave.
