I'm a SAHM with an almost 3 yr old. Moved to Germany a yr ago with my Bavarian hubby. Trying to learn a new language and adjust to all the changes. I wouldn't consider myself a baker, but I do bake a lot of cookies. My DD enjoys "making" them and we bring them to playgroups and send them with DH to work. His co-workers love/hate me for that.
My favorite things to cook
I used to cook a lot of Mexican style food. But haven't found a local source for cilantro. Looking forward to spring and getting some seeds from home to grow my own.
Favorite cooking tools: Induction Cooktops ROCK!!!! Pressure Cookers! Aero Gardens :) Unfortunately, mine is 120v
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make pizza from scratch just about every friday night. Growing up my dad either made us cheese popcorn or we ordered deep dish pizza from our favorite place. Growing up my dad, brother and mom cooked, so I didn't need to and wasn't really interested. And at some point I became interested and now enjoy it. Except for not having a dish washer in our new place, as of yet.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving dinner in Germany. Fresh turkey (35€) but worth it. Delicious! I'm able to successfully cook many bavarian/german specialties. Now I'd like to learn to cook Asian.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list. But most tragic was the inability to hard boil an egg at the age of 24. Four eggs and two hours. I decided I didn't want an egg salad sandwich any more. It was years before I decided to try again. Thankfully, it is no longer a problem. And no, I do NOT use an egg cooker. Silly invention.
