I made this recipe without the nuts, didn't have any on hand, and it was ok. I think maybe my pear was too soft. My daughter loves this without the pear. She requests it often. It is so easy to make, that I do make it most times she requests it. Without the pears and nuts it is kind of a "gourmet" mac-n-cheese. Delicious!

I made this for a church soup sale. I am not a big soup fan, so I had not really made one before. I was on a budget and had most of the ingredients for this, so I went for it. I was satisfied. This was quite tasty. I gave what was left over to a friend who loves bean and bacon soup and she ate it all gone.

I took this pie to a church pie sale and it was delicious. It did melt, probably because it did not freeze long enough, but it still tasted good like that. Several people even asked for the recipe. This is so easy, I will make it many more times to come!
