About this Cook
I absolutely LOVE to cook, and wish I could be a stay-at-home wife and mom (now that my kids are in school) so I could have these healthy, amazing meals on the table every night (and still be skinny, of course). I do what I can, when I can, but as a working mother of two active boys, it's not always easy! :)
My favorite things to cook
Desserts of all kinds (I probably single-handedly paid for my dentist's last trip to somewhere exotic), and pretty much anything from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None...but I've been told I have inherited my late mother's ability to cook good fruit pies, so I'll settle for that.
My cooking triumphs
I cooked my second turkey ever this Thanksgiving, and it was the best Turkey I ever had. Brining the turkey (with more than just salt and water) is the way to go!
My cooking tragedies
Casseroles of any kind. It's a good thing I'm not Lutheran or Methodist! :) Poultry in it's whole form is my nemesis, with turkeys now being the exception. You're next, whole chicken! Maybe someday I'll be able to conquer duck and pheasant, and all those other wild animals.

Honey Whole Wheat Bread
High altitude note: reduce yeast by 1/4 tsp. This recipe tastes delicious! Now that I finally figured out why my loaves have been coming out badly, I'll be using this recipe for many years to come. I didn't change a thing and I loved the flavor. Thanks for the recipe!!

Savory Corn Muffins
They smelled delicious, but they were WAY too salty!! It was like taking in a teaspoon of salt with each bite. I think if I would have switched the salt for sugar and just let the baking soda/powder be the salt in the muffins, it would have been better.

Chocolate Scotch Whiskey Cake
I can't get enough of this cake!! I love whiskey and chocolate, so I thought I'd give this a try. Easy to make, too. I made it for a small gathering and not a crumb was left! Thanks so much for sharing!! This will now become one of my favorite recipes.
