Hello, I was born and raised in the state of Delaware. Not many of us locals left, trust me! I am employed within the medical profession and feel blessed to have finally found a wonderful non-profit organization to work for. Cooking is a fun way for me to relax. I also enjoy making jewelry, photography, swimming, and walking/hiking. I am grateful that I can find humor in everyday life, it keeps me sane!
My favorite things to cook
Being from the north east region of our country, I really appreciate the fresh seasonal seafood from our local waters. Simplicity is the way I go. I love to steam blue crabs in the summer and fresh local corn on the cob. Seafood, Italian and Mexican cooking are my favorites. I have to say that my recipe for chicken chili is awesome!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy cooking for the holidays and always make my mushroom cheese casserole and crab dip for special occassions. There are never any leftovers.
My cooking triumphs
I have to say that my greatest cooking triumph was when I entered my first cooking competition in 2005 and actually won! It was a crab cake cook off. I am not a competitive person by nature and just decided to enjoy the day and have fun. I encourage anyone to enter a local cooking competition. You never know!
My cooking tragedies
I remember being about 20 years old and I was just learning to teach myself how to cook. The recipe that I was attempting called for 3 cloves of garlic. I used 3 entire heads of garlic! I did not know the difference between the two. My boyfriend at the time ate the manicotti anyway. What a trooper!
