My family and I are recently converted "Semi-vegetarian" and have really enjoyed the change of pace in meals and the way that we feel. We're much healthier and have a little more energy and a better outlook. I'm glad that we're trying to give our kids the best start possible. Also, NO SODA is a huge rule with us. It is not something that we allow in the house and I feel that that is a very healthy rule for all of us. I don't need my three-year-old addicted to caffeine and sugar.
My favorite things to cook
I love asian food, and anything with bell peppers and mushrooms. I love to cook with fresh veggies and cooking with fruit is also something that I love to do, though I'm still working on it. We try to use all organic and natural foods. I also always try to use whole wheat and the most nutritious ingredients available.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom makes the best rhubarb crumb cake and I still have yet to try making it. I'm afraid of ruining it for myself! My father would usually cook on Sunday afternoons and it usually consisted of BLT's. My husband is a wonderful cook and he always makes the best dinners for us. He has really opened me up to the world of food. He also took a class about health food and through him I was also educated on the horrors of the processed foods we eat.
My cooking triumphs
Not having cooked an actual piece of meat since last year. It feels great!
My cooking tragedies
All my years of close-minded cooking. I wasn't very open to experimenting with new dishes and ingredients. I feel being close-minded is a tragedy in itself.
