I am a grandmother to 10 grandchildren. All my children live within 10 minutes of home we enjoy seeing them on a regular basis. I have lived in the deserts of California, Eastern Washington and now Southern Arizona. My husband and I know longer find anything romantic about snow and cold. I enjoy biking and or walking with my dog. I particularly enjoy the biking. I never had a bike growing up and it is wonderful how far you can travel on a bicycle. My dog is very active...we also enjoy frisbee. After three years of practice I can throw pretty well.
My largest recreation activity is quilting. I am working on a long term project of making a quilt for each of my grandchildren. So far I have finished four quilts and am working on number five. I also love to read. I always have a book in progress and am the book chooser for myself and my husband. He likes to read but does not enjoy going to the library. Another hobby is rubber stamping. I get tired but never bored.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake bread and cookies. I have graduated to doing things as easily as possible. I now use mixes and add things to make them better.
Homemade applesauce it one of my favorites. It can be a side dish or a dessert. Using several varieties of cooking apples adds to the yumm factor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom's roast.
My cooking tragedies
I tried a new recipe from a magasine for yogurt cauliflower soup. It was horrible. I tasted it first while my husband and children watched. I couldn't eat more than a sip. We gave it to the dog...she would not eat it until she dumped it into the dirt.
