About this Cook
I'm a newly retired, elementary school teacher. I have been married 32 years, have a 26 yr. old daughter who also teaches school and a 25 yr. old son in business.
My favorite things to cook
I love making healthy desserts, especially fruit pies. I am learning to cook more southwestern things and enjoy finding recipes on your website for salsas and dips, but nothing extremely spicy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For Christmas, I always make my grandmother's recipe for kolache. I also make my mother's recipe for candy cane cookies.
My cooking triumphs
Door County Cherry Pie, the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and banana spice bars.
My cooking tragedies
Tuna Souffle and Fiesta Medley.....yuck!

Polish Mistakes
I make these all the time. Guys love them, even for a meal, rather than just a party appetizer. They're best out-of-the-oven, but I freeze them, too. I also melt the cheese in a double boiler and add all the spices while cooking and draining the meat in another pan. Then I pour the cheese mixture over the meat and stir together. Easy!!!

Rye Snack Rounds
These are wonderful...guys, especially, like them for a party appetizer. Another review mentioned adding worcestershire sauce. I do, too, along with oregano to give them more of a pizza flavor. The extra "sausage" that I've used was pork or you can simply use ground beef. They can be frozen and heated, as needed, but they are best hot, out-of-the-oven.
