I have been cooking for a while but still do not feel comfortable in the kitchen. It was fine to cook "on the fly" when it was just me but now with two kids and a husband I really need to (and want to) tackle coooking great, easy and healthy meals everyone likes!
My favorite things to cook
I make a killer turkey chili in the slow cooker and chicken dumpling soup (also in the slow cooker).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Stuffed Cabbage, Hungerian noodles and cheese fondue are a few of the best family recipes we have. Otherwise since my mom worked evenings and my dad was not the most "creative" cook I was raised on all of the basics (i.e. hamperger and noodles, pork chops, tater tots, chicken kiev, etc.)
My cooking triumphs
I was a vegetarian for almost a year and I had a party which I decided every item on the menu would be vegetarian (6 dishes) and they all turned out awesome. The funny thing was that when I told the "meat eaters" there were no meat dishes they were not very happy at all! But once I convinced them to try it they were probably the most excited about how good the meals were and they even wanted the recipes!
My cooking tragedies
I can't think of any major ones at the moment--I think I just blocked them out:)
