About this Cook
I’m 21, 22 in January, my spelling and grammar are horrible so for this profile I’m doing spell-check first in Word, however comments on recopies wont likely get that treatment, and for that I’m sorry. I am unemployable and very recently had to leave school (or fail out at a larger cost) due to a disease I have called Endometriosis. I am in constant pain, and often crippling. I also have other health issues that are related to Endo. With All the pain, means the use of allot of pain killers that cloud my thinking and my ability to over all function properly. So now I am back living with my boyfriend in Guelph, who is amazing to me. On December 3rd I’m having yet another surgery to try to help with my pain or see if there is anything that can be done about it. Until then I have to be a recluse since if I get sick before surgery I will have to wait until there is another opening (march likely at earliest) and the sooner I have surgery, the sooner I can recover and hopefully be able to wo
My favorite things to cook
I do not cook much, I simply bake... sometimes. My boyfriend is a good cook and much of what I do cook I learned from watching him cook all this time for us. i bake cakes and cookies and biscuits, corn bread also. I can make some other foods that are actually cooking however I love my boyfriend but the reason it somewhere on my profile says I’m interested in kid friendly meals is, because he is a fussy eater haha. I can make a kick quiche, chilli (vegetarian, only learned while I was off meat for a few months because of health reasons, then they realized I was replacing meat with soy and that even worse for me) and a few other things but they are items he says he hates and until recently has stated he won’t try them even if I make them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My background is English, Irish, Scottish, Belgian and Polynesian, and of course Canadian. I was born in Canada as were my parents. My dad has no cooking knowledge and since my mom has many dietary restrictions there is very few things that she cooked that I enjoyed (at age 11 or 12) me my mom and dad all started fending for ourselves food wise. Though, if I ask her I could be told how to cook both bear and deer and have both turn out very yummy. Most all things that are from my past family are things like rice pudding, scones and such that all come from my mother’s mother. There was a great wealth of cooking knowledge with my great grandmother (dads grandma) however the wealth seems to have recently died with her since she never wrote down recopies and could still recall and make everything until her 94th birthday (it was only the last month of her life she went downhill and she did so very fast)
My cooking triumphs
i'll get back to this, after i have some :S
My cooking tragedies
last night i managed to mess up the filling for perigees, the mashed potatos since i guess i must have been feeling worse then i thought and unable to concentrate.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken
Took longer to thicken up the sauce then the recipe calls for. Very good, and very little ginger flavor just some of the tangy taste. The chicken and sauce are really good mized into rice and veggies. i used uncel bens fried rice that i mixed it into.

Super Duper Chocolate Cookies
I am very impressed by these cookes. i cooked for exactly 12mins and took out (they look undercooked at that point but are fine once they cool). They are soft, and yummy and great. I was worried they wouldnt have much flavor to them, since when i bake i always taste things as they are being made, and the dough wasnt exactly tasty (and i find i like even pancake batter) so i was half tempted to trash it and go make other cookes. so glad i didnt! I guess its the confectionary sugar that makes them taste so good. they are great. Since it is fall and i wanted to make something cute, i added some orange food colouring to the confectionary sugar (took alot of work) but the orange and brown cookies were worth it all. So good i am making more today. Also LOVE that the number of cookes they suggest it will make is right on the money. i used half the recipe so should have gotten 24 cookies, i got 25 so that was great. Seeing as most recipes say 24 and i get something closer to 12.

Oven Fried Chicken III
very good and very easy! i used mayo mixed with milk like others said. the result was nicely cooked chicken with a great coating. Last week i tried making "fried chicken" and it failed, but this created what tasted like fried chicken but so so very much easyer! (and the time and temp are VERY close to Chucks fave mac and cheese also listed on this site that i LOVE, so i put in the chicken, waited till cook times were equal and then put in the mac and cheese. a very good meal togeather, even as left overs!)
