I'm not a chef. I have a three old daughter who is my assistant cook. Every time I cook, she pulls her chair to the counter top and wants to help. She likes to press the numbers on the microwave. She said to me, "Dada, you're good cooker". The picture in my profile came from a United Methodist Men cooking demo at our church. My passion and inspiration for cooking comes from my Ummie, this means mom in Pakistani & Indian language. We all know that there is nothing like Mama's cooking. Unfortunately I don't have her recipe book. I try to copy cat the flavors that I grew up with, mostly spicy food. The hotter the better! I remember her spice cabinet was filled with all sorts of spices. Thus, I carry on this tradition. I too have cabinets full of an assortment of spices. Perhaps I was a spice trader in my past life. I look at spices as if they have a sort of gold value. They do have a rich value to me. When you add these spices they make the food richer in taste and flavor.
My favorite things to cook
It Depends on the mood I'm in. I try to cook in the spur of the moment. It is usually something Spicy. That is just my personal preference.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Year we go over to my Uncle's for Thanksgiving. I usually cook the Big Juicy Turkeys with stuffing, roasted Garlic Mash Potatoes & Turkey Gravy.. "Delicious"....
My cooking triumphs
Well, this sounds funny, but I couldn't cook simple food like rice. Not just any rice, Basmati rice. I like to make my Basmati rice like the restaurants. I know...I usually cook with complex ingredients. I just recently I mastered the cooking of rice...I'll later share my recipes.
