About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes and often buy things that are new to me just so I can experiment with them. I love allrecipes.com because it allows me to put in almost any ingredient I have and find a way to prepare it. The user reviews are also incredibly helpful.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was raised on good 'from scratch' cooking. My mother often made homemade pies, chicken noodle soup, and also a lot of German/Scandinavian foods.

Shrimp Burritos
These were good, but I dont think I would make all the mess for burritos again. I did as another reviewer suggested and added the beans directly to the spanish rice rather than make another dish. (We did enjoy the refried beans mixed with the spanish rice on our tortillas as leftovers since my husband polished off the leftover shrimp right away) I tried making the sauce both ways as some people just made it with sour cream instead of the mayo/yogurt mix my whole family said they were both good but the sour cream was a little smoother. (They still ate the mayo/yogurt mix one too) But really in all honestly, this was essentially, refried beans, spanish rice, shrimp and chipotle sauce on tortillas. No magic here.

Peanut Butter Crunchies
These cookies had a great flavor but the cereal makes these a little more chewy than I would like and they were also very crumbly and kept falling apart. I did substitute half of the white sugar for brown sugar and also added a half tsp of vanilla to give a little more depth to the flavor. I probably wont make this again.

Gingerbread Boys
These were good gingerbread boys, turned out well. I did not think they were spectacular or anything though. I probably wont use this recipe again.
