About this Cook
My husband and I have one child. We both work full-time jobs, my husband's is more demanding physically and mine has more emotional baggage, so we try to live by the "work hard, play hard" philosophy!
My favorite things to cook
I like to put effort into even everyday meals, but my favorite recipes are those that seems like it took a lot more effort and time than it really did to make!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I helped my mom with cooking. My daughter is starting to help me. I hope the later payoff for her will be cooking experience, confidence in the kitchen, and good memories.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
Did half applesauce/half oil. My daugter helped me make this, it's one bowl ease!

Berdean's Cube Steak
Inexpensive way to make a cheap cut of meat very tasty and tender. I have a similar recipe "smothered steak" which is more complicated and calls for cream soups, but I preferred the ease of this one. I did add thinly sliced white onion on top of the steaks as they simmered.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup
Very delicious. I made the taco seasoning that the recipe submitter suggested; used that entire quantity in the soup. Leftovers were just as good too. Tortilla chips are a must for me with this---I scooped the soup with them like it was a dip. I'd prefer this soup any day over queso dip!
