About this Cook
I am almost 24 years old and have always enjoyed cooking. I always used to watch and help my Grandma cook when I was younger so I could learn. Now, I take a lot of the old traditions that I remember and make them on a healthier scale.
My favorite things to cook
I love finding great ways to use vegetables and fruit.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chili, lemon chicken, pastas, dinner rolls.
My cooking triumphs
I do not like to have a lot of things in my cabinets. So when I read a lot of recipes, there are typically ingredients in there that I do not have. In this case, I love to find great substitutions.
My cooking tragedies
My roommate and I made a really awesome blackberry wine cake once. Then I tried to make it again when she was not there. This time I had bought a cake mix that had dried egg white mixture in a separate package from the cake part. I wasnt thinking and put both of the packs in and still put in the required eggs for the recipe otherwise. This cake turned out so heavy and gross that I threw it out because it didn't seem edible and I was embarrased to bring it to the in-laws house!

Whole Wheat and Nuts Muffins
Love it! I used soy milk, added fresh blueberries cuz I wanted some fruit, 1/8 cup water to make it a bit fluffier, and 1.5 c wheat flour and 1/2 c white flour. I also didn't have nutmeg, so I used cinnamon. So good! Makes a little more than 12 muffins, probably more like 14 or 15. Does taste somewhat wheaty with my variation, but I like it that way on a healthier note.

Pasta with Arugula Pesto
Tasted okay, but had a very strong arugala taste which was almost overwhelming.

Spinach Crescents
It tasted good, but It turned out that I had too much filling for the 8 crescent rolls. They ended up too fat and didn't cook that well because of it. I agree with above review to have extra crescent rolls available.
