I am an Irish gal who loves to cook almost as much as I love my husband and out dog. Family and all that it implies are at my heart. The heart of our family is the kitchen and all the memories and good food we create together. Any recipe that my grandmother and mother have passed down to me, most pasta dishes and anything that allows me to venture into my spice cabinet to use spices I don't "normally" use. All day Thanksgiving day the entire family from the grandchildren to the Grandparents having their own "assigned" task from year to year and creating something heavenly. I am only hoping that if I do have to take over the turkey cooking position that my mother has always had that I can make one that is half as good as hers. Having my Grandmother to tell me that my Rum Ring Cake tasted as good if not better than hers. I forgot the bread in the oven the first time I cooked for my husband - we were still dating - and both smoke detectors going off. He was so wonderful by putting out the "flames and smoke", getting the smoke detectors to stop screaming at us and making me laugh all in the same fail swoop. How could I not marry a man who could make me laugh in an embarrassing situation like that?!
