Fabulous Foolproof Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
Delicious! Instead of using sausage I used ground lamb (which I browned with chopped garlic), and I also used a 24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce. I also put it in the oven for 45 minutes covered, and 15 uncovered. This was my first time making lasagna and it was yummy!

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Great recipe, doesn't need any changes at all! The only thing I did different was that I flash deep fried them in a deep fryer at 360 degrees for a minute and a half instead of cooking them in oil over the stove - success!

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
LOVED it! So easy, moist, and fluffy! Great flavor. I used the trick of putting 1.5 packets of oatmeal into the bread, and .5 packets on top. Most of it stayed on, and the crumble like topping was delicious!

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
A definite hit; definitely use one cup of flour, and be sure to mix the ingredients in the 'standard' order - sugar and butter first, then eggs and vanilla, and then add all the dry ingredients, with nuts or chocolate chips last (I used chocolate chunks from chocolate squares); so simple to make and so tasty!

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This recipe is great! These are the best baked beans I've ever had. I didn't use the large medley of different beans - I used four cans of pinto beans, and one can of baked beans. Everything else I kept to a tee. Soooo good! This is definitely my new barbeque dish! It was also a hit at the BBQ I brought it to today!

German Lentil Soup

Perfect for wintertime (I know, I made it in the summer, but still good) and for great leftovers that will keep well. I used fresh chopped garlic instead of garlic powder, 7 cups of chicken broth instead of 3, and 5 drops of insanity sauce. YUM!

Blueberry Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
Wow! Moist, thick, scrumptious pound cake! The fresh blueberries are definitely a good addition, and the thick batter makes the cake super moist (all that butter and sugar - mm). I didn't have to make a single modification to this recipe!

Delicious recipe! Some of the best brownies I've ever had and made - I used Ghiradelli chocolate chips too like grammajean below. The brownies were a hit! I didn't have to make a single modification to this recipe either!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
These are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made. Hands down. I didn't even modify the recipe one bit. I cut the receipe in half, but that's all! And I used Irish butter. This was so easy and so tasty!

Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
I wasn't very impressed with this recipe. I read others' reviews of how the chicken came out bland and watery, and lo and behold, my chicken came out bland and watery. I added a ton of seasoning, fresh basil and chopped garlic, fresh mushrooms, chicken broth, and sliced onions and I wasn't thrilled with the results. I also used chicken thighs instead of breasts. I don't know, maybe I need to modify this recipe even more (2 cans of cream of mushroom next time?)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

This is the best pot roast I've ever had! Tender, savory, and EASY! The changes I made are: 1) Instead of water, used beef broth 2) Added carrots, onions, mushrooms, and lots of chopped garlic at the beginning under the meat 3) At the last hour, added a can of green beans Will be making this many many times again!

Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: May 28, 2009
Amazingly simple, and amazingly delicious. The only changes I made were to set the slow cooker on low, instead of high. The meat came out tender and falling apart. I might put in the vegetables later on next time, but if you like stewy and smushy vegetables, then put it in the pot at the beginning. A solid hit! My boyfriend loved this dish, and it made leftovers for the two of us for a week!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Echoing someone else's review here, this was also my first slow cooker recipe! Purchased my crock pot, and then two hours later this recipe was in it, ready to go. I used chicken thighs instead of breast and the chicken was so tender and shredded, it was almost like eating tuna casserole (but not as processed). Mm!

Coq au Vin alla Italiana

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
So delicious and savory - this was an instant hit with my boyfriend and I. I now have a giant potful of delicious coq au vin that I will be eager to eat as leftovers. The only changes I made was to use 3 lbs of chicken thigh meat (instead of 4), and I also used kielbasa sausage that is not sweet. The rest is as. Bravo!

Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
The bread turned out great, I subbed dark chocolate chunks instead of the nuts, which made for a very rich, velvety bread. I didn't like the honey/chocolate/butter spread as much, but mostly because I don't like honey. This is worth a repeat try, but I might make a nutella based spread instead!

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
Very good! Hearty and no beans! I added extra tbsp of chili powder to make this even more spicy, and also subbed worcestershire sauce instead of vinegar (as someone else did). This looks like spaghetti sauce when you first make it, but after simmering for 1.5 hours it turns into a rich brown color that looks and smells and TASTES like real good chili!

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
This bread turned out moist, zesty, and delicious! Love the tangyness from the lemon juice and the lemon zest, and using fresh blueberries made this bread sooo good. The glaze is a treat too. I also omitted the walnuts (not a fan of nuts). Will be making this for parties/socials!
