About this Cook
I'm 29, and still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I enjoy reading, watching anything on HGTV, Food Network, DIY, some shows on the SciFi channel (TAPS anyone?) and a few of the primetime shows on ABC. I'm a music fiend and currently have over 4800 songs in my iPod.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Deserts, pastries, cakes, cookies - you name it, I love to bake it. I'm learning how to COOK slowly but surely, and have several family recipes that have been passed down through the years.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother taught me just about everything I know about baking. My favorite time of year has always been Christmas, mainly because of the smells that would come out of my grama's kitchen. Anise sugar cookies, rum balls, chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, pizelles, fruit cups...
My cooking triumphs
I made Coq a Vin recently, from scratch. It was my first foray into French cooking, and I wasn't sure I was even going to like the dish. I'd never had it before, but I had watched a cooking show on TV and it looked so good that I had to try it myself. It ended up being one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten.
My cooking tragedies
Surprisingly enough, I'm really not that adventurous food-wise. I know what I like, and tend to avoid things I'm not too sure about. On that note, there's not a whole lot I've tried to make that has turned out tragically, hahaha.
