I've had more experience with baking than cooking, but I've been out on my own for a few months now and I'm just looking to gain more experience and learn more!
My favorite things to cook
On the baking side, I love doing cookies, breads/rolls, and using whole wheat flour for all of it. When it comes to cooking, I've been making a lot of soups, stir frys, and pasta dishes lately. Mostly simple stuff, because I'm usually cooking for just me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Home-made mac & cheese was a big favorite, as well as zucchini bread and muffins made with fresh-picked berries.
My cooking triumphs
Beef stew and biscuits is one of my meals that turned out pretty well. Same goes for stuffed shells and lasagna. I also make mocha-chip cookies pretty often, and lots of people like them.
My cooking tragedies
Once I tried making manicotti (sp?) with rolled-up lasagna noodles, which I still think is a good idea, but I used whole wheat lasagna so they ended up pretty dry. Most pie crusts I've attempted have been near-tragedies. I'm still trying to find ways to use whole wheat flour without drying everything out.
