About this Cook
I LOVE to bake! i bake for my family all the time. I get the love of the kitchen from my mother who cooks at a deli for a living. Its nice to see people from other cultures enjoy authentic Dominican food. She cooks all the time with love. she hums all the time when cooking and naturally, i began to join her in the kitchen. as i got older, i made things myself. now, i cook for my family and friends!
My favorite things to cook
hmmm.... i love to bake carrot cake, flan, baked ziti, macaroni and cheese, tostones, fish and chips
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making flan the night before visitors come over. Before we made it in the blender, we used to combine everything with a fork, and my mom used to let me open the cans of condensed milk and i got to lick the spoon after she was done with it! When i got older, i got sugar burning duty (which i also kept the spoon). I just like being in the kitchen cooking and eating (and busting a random move here and there)
My cooking triumphs
My first carrot cake from this site! I still get raves for it. And a cheesecake i made to which i still get raves about
My cooking tragedies
a "vanilla" cake that tasted like paper and i tried to make cookies once but ended up with a hard, flat sugar mess. One day cookies, one day.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
These oatmeal cookies were great! I scaled the recipe all the way to just get 6 (can't have too many! I'll eat them all!!) and I got 9 cookies instead. Not that big of a problem, but still tasty. I also popped it in the freezer for 25 mins. instead of refrigerating for an hour. Honestly, that could've been skipped. I made them without raisins but I think I'll add them next time. I also added a bit more cinnamon and some ground nutmeg. Delicious!!

Fluffy White Frosting
WOW! Just WOW. Amazing! It is so tasty and shiny! I only had hand beaters so I just threw everything in the bowl on a double boiler and beat it on high for 7-10 minutes. I got this light, fluffy frosting that tastes like marshmallows! Amazing! 10 stars if I could!!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
WOW! So good! They're terrific! I made the dough the night before and baked them the next day and they came out fabulous! They tasted like those little debbie gingerbread men! I frosted a few with royal icing. Truly delicious
