About this Cook
I'm 19 at the moment, i LOVE to bake! i bake for my family all the time. I get the love of the kitchen from my mother who cooks at a deli for a living. Its nice to see people from other cultures enjoy authentic Dominican food. She cooks all the time with love. she hums all the time when cooking and naturally, i began to join her in the kitchen. as i got older, i made things myself. now, i cook for my family and friends!
My favorite things to cook
hmmm.... i love to bake carrot cake, flan, baked ziti, macaroni and cheese, tostones, fish and chips
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making flan the night before visitors come over. Before we made it in the blender and combined everything with a fork, my mom used to let me open the cans of condensed milk and i got to lick the spoon after she was done with it! When i got older, i got sugar burning duty (which i also kept the spoon). I just like being in the kitchen cooking and eating (and busting a random move here and there)
My cooking triumphs
My first carrot cake from this site! I still get raves for it. And a cheesecake i made to which i still get raves about
My cooking tragedies
a "vanilla" cake that tasted like paper and i tried to make cookies once but ended up with a hard, flat sugar mess. One day cookies, one day.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls
It came out great! this was my first experience with cinnamon rolls and it worked. It was a bit messy when i had to roll it because of the margarine/brown sugar mix but all in all, good recipe. my sister ate twice and my dad even tried it (which is a first on both parts). also added cream cheese frosting which made them delicious. good work!

Carrot Cake III
i make this cake for my family all the time! they absolutely love it! i did make some alterations suggested in the reviews: 1 cup brown and 1 cup white sugar, extra tsp of vanilla and the nutmeg (mostly eyeballed). i also add more carrots to the mix. everyone loves it and have even asked me for the recipe!
