About this Cook
I am a warm-hearted mother and wife. I have a 1 1/2-year-old daughter who is my pride and joy, and a wonderful husband who makes our beautiful life possible. I soon will be graduating with my B.S. in Biology and cannot wait to start my career in the field.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking anything chock full of grains and veggies. Those are the foods I really enjoy, and I feel good about feeding them to my family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love the fact that even though my family has grown tremendously, everyone still comes together for every holiday, just with more in tow (children, friends, in-laws).
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting recipes: I can always find a small addition that turns a good recipe exquisite.
My cooking tragedies
So many, but I would have to say the time I made some rice that would just not get tender - and my dear husband ate it anyway (I did not).

Terry's Texas Pinto Beans
I love these beans! I make them every couple weeks. I leave out the jalapeno because it's a little hot for my daughter.

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits
They tasted ok, but mine weren't fluffy at all. I reverted back to my original biscuit recipe and just subbed half wheat flour and a tad more baking powder with good results.

Ranger Cookies I
I made these for my dad for Father's day as he is a big coconut fan and I'm running out of new things to make him. These had a great texture - delightfully chewy yet had a little crunch. After reading the reviews I reduced the flour to 2 cups. This makes a lot of cookies - about 7 dozen with my standard cookie scoop if I recall correctly, so you may want to halve the recipe.
