About this Cook
I am a part time nurse but mainly a wife and a mom to 2 boys. I go to church and I love my Saviour. I like to experiment with new recipes. I love Allrecipes. I like crafty things like cardmaking, crochet, & cake decorating.
My favorite things to cook
Everything. I'd like to bake more, but there are heavy consequences to that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making sugar cookies with my kids at christmas.
My cooking tragedies
Growing up, my mom used to make "flat-jacks", it's a type of fried bread. I tried to make them once, and they were such a flop my husband said he didn't want them anymore.

Simply the Easiest Beef Brisket
This was my first time making brisket. ( I am not a novice cook) It was DEEE-LISH!! I didn't have beer, so I used part beef broth and part of a can of cherry limeade from MinuteMade ( thought about using root beer but opted not to-maybe next time). This made a lot of sauce. I think next time I'll cut that part in half. I used 1/2 c brown sugar like others suggested. I started mine in the oven at 300 for an hour and then decreased the oven temp to 275 for 3 hours and let it bake while I was at church. Got home, removed top foil, and increased temp to 325 for 30 min like the recipe states. It was very moist. The sauce wasn't as thick as bbq, but wasn't like water either, but it was still good. Shredding the rest of it and having bbq beef sandwiches with the leftovers. My kids and Husband both enjoyed this as well.

Asian Lettuce Wraps
These were delish! I accidentally made them a little too spicy for my kids, but they still ate them. I had candied ginger and used that instead of pickled. I also didn't have hoisin sauce so I googled a recipe for that and it turned out very good: 4 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp peanut butter, 1 Tbsp honey, 2 tsp rice or white vinegar, 1/4 tsp garlic, 2 tsp sesame oil, 1/8 tsp pepper, and chinese hot sauce to taste. I just added the whole mixture bc I had a little more than a pound of beef. I will definitely make these again. (A little less spicy though!)
