I am Italian, Greek, Dutch Guyanese & French Guyanese. The Guyanese in loves Caribbean food. The Italian in me must explain my love of Italian and Latin foods. My favorite foods are actually Spanish. I can't stand Greek food. I refuse to prepare it. Yuck! Jamaican Beef Patties Spanish Beef Emmpanadas Spanish Rice and beans Salisbury style meatballs Cholcolaty Peanutbutter/Oatmeal drop cookies (shhh...that ones a family secret) I love cooking on the holidays. My Mother and my sister come over and we spend the entire day cooking together. We have a ball. Then the kids will usually make some easy to make desserts. I will usually contribute at least one of my baked delights to show off a little. Then of course all the family comes, eats, drinks, laughs and leaves me with a messy kitchen and sink full of dishes. My Husband and my sister both work for the same company. There are a few days out of the year that are considered the hardest working days for their employees. The company used to cater those days. Do to the economy they stopped. But my sister and I collected $5 from each person and catered what could have been a professional job by anyone's palet, for 100 people in 1 night!!! Every last bite came out perfect : ) In an attempt to heat stuffing in corningware, I could not get the oven to light. We didn't have microwaves back then. So I thought I could heat it on the stove top since you can heat it in the oven. WRONG! The bowl exploded, glass & stuffing flew everywhere, and my best friend and I jumped under the table. We thought we were being shot at. HA!
