About this Cook
Originating from the Southeast and now living in Northern California. Living here has opened my eyes to so many incredible culinary flavors and options.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking and always have since a child. I think it all started when I was 8 and a neighbor showed me how to make carrot cake from scratch, I was hooked then and there.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being a born and bred southerner I enjoy comfort food, now that I am a Northern Californian I have learned to prepare items that satisfy the carb lover AND are good for me. Baking is a big part of my up bringing as well, creamy cakes, fruit and cream pies were a staple growing up. I still really enjoy making these for my friends and family.
My cooking triumphs
I have gotten comfortable enough with food preparation that I now experiment and create my own recipes.
My cooking tragedies
That not so right Puerto Rican Rum Wedding Cake I found online...if you know the TRUE recipe, please let me know!

Puerto Rican Tostones (Fried Plantains)
It is better to put these in salted water before you fry them and only after they are dried. Also, the plantain "smoosh" better if they are cut at an angle, but that's just me.
