About this Cook
People are surprised that a bellydancing skydiver can also bake delicious cakes and make homemade apple butter. I recently added snowboarding and learning Japanese to my hobby list. If only I didn't have to work. :) But I do love teaching.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking and making vegetarian foods. I especially love to make soup in the winter and salads in the summer. I stay away from unnatural products and use mostly organic foods when I can.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My brother doesnt eat pork, my sister doesn't eat meat and has a bunch of food allergies (including wheat and milk), and my mom is a total carnivore so each holiday and celebration is an interesting feast. My mom is from Germany so there is always a German element in her cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I make a feast for people I care about I feel good.
My cooking tragedies
I often wait til the last minute to make things, including cakes for birthdays, so sometimes they are ruined in haste!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III
I have to say this is amazing! Fast and delicious! Others mention changing the amount of cocoa powder. Here's the scoop: if you are using high quality cocoa, you can definitely reduce it. If you are using regular hershey's cocoa, you can increase it up to 1 cup. But remember, it's still personal preference as to how rich you like your cake and what you plan to top it with. I recently served it frosting free with vanilla ice cream topped with strawberries and bananas and it was fantastic!

Green Tea Layer Cake
I live in Japan and I sent the cake in the mail to two different Japanese families. They all loved it. One said that it is addictive! Arigatou gozaimasu, Suki-san!
