I'm old enough to collect AARP discounts, yet young enough to play football with a bunch of teenagers. I have a large family altogether 7 people in our house. There is never a dull moment... never! I am the luckiest man on the planet or at least I feel like it. Married 23 years to my best friend... Self employed and full of life. Attribute my wonderful life to my relationship with Jesus Christ. When one is in sync with his creator he has peace, joy and life abundantly.
My favorite things to cook
Breakfast... My favorite meal. Lasagna... My favorite dish to cook. I love to be thrown in a kitchen which is limited on ingredients and coming out with what my wife thinks is a gourmet meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Creating Grilled Cheese Recipes for my family. My favorite is Grilled Cheese with Dill Pickles and Jalapenos.... MMMM Good. If you toast them dark you can take a knife and draw pictures on them for your kids. Yes, only half my kids enjoy jalapenos, so I have to compromise.
My cooking triumphs
Again while in the U.S. Army I once cooked a full breakfast by my lonesome for my entire batallion (1,000 men). We usually strip the bacon on a baking sheet and bake it in the oven.... When cooking for a 1,000 that will not work you'd be stripping bacon 3 days later. You have to just throw it in a big pot and stir it as it cooks with a pair of tongs.
My cooking tragedies
I was a cook in the U.S. Army for three years. While I was in the Army they sent me to cooking school. One class period we were working on baking. I was assigned biscuits. Now, I had made biscuits many times; however, on this one particular occasion I replaced the baking powder with baking soda... ;-) As you can imagine they were nasty!
