About this Cook
I am a total foodie. My favorite channel on T.V. is of course the food network. I live in Charleston S.C. where seafood is the main course. I work as a nurse but also hold a second job as a bartender in a quaint little pub. I'm of Irish decent so I like to explore the recipes of my mother's homeland such as corned beef and cabbage and boxtys. Anything that goes well with a proper pint of Guinness is a favorite for me.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook seafood, potatoes, beef, and chicken. I have a little bit of a sweet tooth, so any kind of meat that can pull off a sweet glaze such as chicken, pork, or salmon is usually the staple recipes of my collection. I also love to cook pasta dishes because you can get so creative with them. The creamier and cheesier the sauce, the better!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Up until my grandmother passed away two years ago (she was a direct import from Ireland) we would get together every Sunday for her Corned beef and cabbage with irish potatoes. On St. Patty's we would get together and enjoy the same meal, but those of us who were of legal drinking age got to share my grandma's Irish Whiskey on the side.
My cooking triumphs
I am the burger queen!! Burgers are so simple yet they carry so many possiblities. From simple marinades to stuffing the burgers with cheese, onions and mushrooms, Mickey D's has nothing on me!! I am also the cake master. I make very rich and moist cakes and I'm very good at decorating them too. I can make wedding cakes, bar mitzvah cakes and La Quincenera cakes as well. I am also good at cupcakes and cheesecakes.
My cooking tragedies
Cookies, I always burn them. Enough said :-(
