I'm the single, full-time working mother of a "foodie" who will try anything I cook. American By Birth, Christian By Choice, Patriot Forever!
My favorite things to cook
I adore baking and I cook daily for my family for economic reasons. When I eventually do go to a restaurant, I usually end up going home and reinventing the meal I tasted because somehow I always find room for improvement. I have grown quite proficient at making "something out of nothing" which means that I can always make a meal with modest ingredients and add a lot of imagination.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I belong to a non-profit, charitable organization and each year for Memorial Day we host 150+ active duty service men and women, plus our own membership, for a luncheon in appreciation for all they do to ensure our freedom. I baked over the course of 4 days in my tiny kitchen to provide desserts for the troops because many hadn't been home in months and were just stepping off their ships for "Fleet Week" in NY. I wanted them to enjoy something homemade. It was truly a labor of love and I'll be doing it again this year!
