Hi, I'm a grandmother of four, mother of four.
I enjoy gardening but not weeding. I enjoy a clean house but not cleaning.
I'll try new recipes and I'm always looking for easy but not boring meals.
Sometimes I'm too busy to cook. I throw pottery and hand build clay objects. I also draw and paint. My favorite subjects are old barns and buildings my pottery work is varied but I particulary enjoy the designs of Hopi, Walpi and work from the town of Mata Ortiz. I research indian culture, history and art form meanings before I design an olla. Most of my time is spent in my studio so the crock pot is a very good friend of mine.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy fixing and eating enchiladas. They are time consuming but worth it. I put a little twist to my recipe. I warm the enchilada sauce, dip the tortilla then quick fry each side, fill them roll them up and finish up with cheese and sauce on top.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The enchiladas I mentioned above, I learned from my Mom
My cooking triumphs
When my children were quite young, I was creating without a cook book an oriental stir fry. Some of the ingredients my children had never had. so they kept asking what I was making. Not knowing quite what to call it I just said "You'll see"
When dinner was ready and they loved every bite, they asked again "What is it" My reply "youlsee" To this day they ask if I will make "youlsee"
My cooking tragedies
Too many tragedies to remember. I call them experiments and my husband is the guinea pig.
