I love to cook... when I have time. Working 2 jobs while being a single mother doesn't leave a lot of time for that. Sometimes I get my 5-year-old daughter to "help" in the kitchen... fun for both of us!
My favorite things to cook
Recipes that I come up with or others that I have tweaked to make my "own". It gives such a great sense of pride when people rave over your cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like cooking alone sometimes; it gives me the opportunity to be creative the way I want to. But I also love cooking as a family. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home- I believe it!
My cooking triumphs
I brought several dishes to (both sides of) my family's Thanksgiving dinner this past year: traditional green bean casserole, corn souffle (the dish was practically licked clean) and my own spur-of-the moment rendition of sticky buns complete with rehydrated cranberries- they were gone before the meal even started!
My cooking tragedies
The biggest mistakes I've ever made have definately been due to temperature goofs. The proper temperature is essential in the proper execution of a recipe.
