About this Cook
I grew up watching both my parents cook. My mom was from the South, so you can imagine....fried fish Fridays and fried chicken Sundays....biscuits made from scratch...need I say more.
My favorite things to cook
hmmm...the newest thing now is lasagna. Also baking breads, scones, cookies, cakes, pies and grilling meats and veggies are my specialities.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents Bar-B-Q was the best. Holiday time was my favorite...my parents would go all out with the ham and turkey for Christmas. My Mom's ham for Easter and Christmas was out of this world! She made the best yeast dinner rolls from scratch...to this day I can't figure out how to do them....lol
My cooking triumphs
It just happened actually....I made my very first lasagna using this site....it came out PERFECT!!!
My cooking tragedies
This happend to me as a teenager. Once I tried to pan fry some chicken like I always saw my Mom do in an iron frying pan. I watched the pan carefully and they browned nice and evenly and were nice and crispy. When we bit into a piece all this dark red blood...alot of it, would come running out.....I wanted to cry. It turned out that all the pieces weren't cooked inside enough.

Fried Empanadas
Very very good, fairly easy to make, I thought the meat needed a little more. I personally like my food more heavily seasoned and medium spicy. So, I added the following to the meat mixture: Mrs. Dash Southwestern Chipotle seasoning, Smoked paprika,McCormick "Season All" seasoned salt, a little more cumin. The pastry came out great, nice and flaky and crispy.

World's Best Lasagna
This is actually my first lasagna ever. I made it last night for me, my roommate and her boyfriend. All I can say now is that it WAS my first lasagna.....because it's already practically all gone now. Tastes even better the second day! WOW!
