Just quit a job I hated, and have my retirement so I'm in no hurry to find a job. I've yet to be a full-time housewife, so I'm going to give it a try for a while! I'm SO looking forward to trying new recipes out on my husband, and expanding our meal selections. At least until I find a new career! I'm only 47!
My favorite things to cook
chicken dishes, tacos, enchiladas, Italian dishes, and a great 7-hour ham!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making posole and tamales with my husband over the holidays, and baking our turkey for Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
Tamales; I learned to make by myself. And baking! I'm learning how to bake breads and pastries, which is how my grandfather made a living. He was a "panadero" or baker and sold door-to-door.
My cooking tragedies
My first angel-food cake was a frisbee, weighing about 2 pounds. Burned some biscochos first try out, and made a potato casserole with Gruyere cheese my husband wouldn't eat. Found out later he thought the cheese smelled like feet. I cried for 2 days. I'm sure there are more I've blocked out!
