About this Cook
I burned my first cookbook on a stove burner over 40 years ago (I still have it) and have been cooking ever since. My two daughters went through vegetarian stages in their teens and I was challenged to come up with recipes that my husband would like and that they would eat. I love cooking. I'd rather cook than clean the house - something that does present a problem from time to time - but we've had great times at the dinner and breakfast table over the years.
My favorite things to cook
I've cooked everything from Beef Wellington and Salmon Mousse to cheese crackers, but love baking the best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Of Course Christmas - my grandaughter and I make the cookies - some recipes I've been making for almost 40 years. Entertaining is a big part of my personality and now that I'm retired, love making dinners for our friends - love to challenge their taste buds with new and different flavors.
My cooking triumphs
I also love making preserves and have some of the best recipes that even beginner's can cook easily and look so professional
My cooking tragedies
I made a 3 egg cake without the eggs once. Wow was it bad!!

Chocolate Pinwheel Cookies
These cookies came out looking beautiful. They had a fairly bland taste tho, and the chocolate was weak as well. I could have taken the weak vanilla, if the choc was standout.

Refrigerator Cookies
I'm so sorry Dottie, I may have done something wrong. I cooked the first two trays and they melted together. Tried to capture something, but no luck. Thought they might have been too soft so froze for a day. Followed the 10 min thaw and cooked at 350F. By the time they were half done, they also puddled on the tray.

Caper Baked Chicken
I will try this again. I will cut back on the lemon and search for a herb to balance the citrus and caper flavors. I usually go to garlic, but that would be too heavy for this dish. My husband doesn't like capers (I love them)and he didn't mind the flavors saying I could make the dish again. I loved the tenderness of the chicken and the short cook time. I will adapt other recipes to the 400 degree/covered rule. You cannot sub Worcester Sauce for the Steak sauce - The complex flavors of the Sauce work beautifully with the butter and caper juice. I will try it again.
