My name is Mikayla, and I am 14 years old. I have one adorable little dog, Bodie, who I've had since I was 3; a wonderful mama who has taught me everything I know (literally); a great daddy who is funny and easygoing; and two older sisters. I love cooking and baking, and learned how to cook from my kitchen mentors-- my mom, grandma, and aunt-- who come from the restaurant business. I have also been playing piano for 7 years. I love almost everything about the 1950's, and adore reading and writing as well as drawing. My favorite pastime is eating good food.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with sugar and/or a high carbohydrate count! (haha) I also like making breakfast, salads, and vegetables. Most of my cooking is dairy-free, because I'm allergic to milk products and borderline diabetic (by genetics).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday meals or anything that involves second helpings-- usually Thanksgiving meals... But my favorite cooking tradition would have to be the cranberry sauce my mom makes (among other things)... SO GOOD!
My cooking triumphs
I made up a cake recipe at the age of 6, and though I hated it (it wasn't sweet enough), my family actually liked it! Also, I feel I've triumphed any time I make something and it turns out JUST LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO.
My cooking tragedies
I usually use the "HIGH" setting on the stove due lack of patience, or use the "Broil" setting on the oven, so that's usually my cooking downfall.
