I'm a Mom, a wife, a Grandma of 2 boys and loving it all! I've been writing a cookbook for about 10 years now and very close to the end (if there is such a place). There's always 1 more great recipe to put in! We live in mid-western Ontario, better known as "farm country". Main dishes, desserts, baking tarts, pies, a good loaf of bread and oh yes, my quest to make the perfect peach bread pudding. The best family cooking tradition is my late grandmother's sausage stuffing. When there was a turkey cooking, the only thing that people couldn't wait for to come out of the oven was Grama's sausage stuffing. Perfection!!! I have found that my famous rice pudding recipe is always a hit! And of course Grama's sausage stuffing and I'd have to say my tweeked chili recipe. The list could get lengthy. When I first was married I thought I'd try and impress my husband with some home made bread. However, when I was putting it together, I forgot to put in the yeast. So I baked the bread thinking I had done everything right and when it came out of the oven, behold it was very heavy. Realizing that I had goofed up somehow, I thought I would get rid of it before he came home from work to save embarassment so I decided to throw it out over the back balcony (we lived on the third floor). As I watched it hit the ground I noticed it didn't even crack. Boy, she was solid. To this day I often thought I should have shelacked it and used it as a doorstop. It would have been a great conversation piece and a reminder to never assume you put all the ingredients in until you double check.
