About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love casserole dishes! I am all about the one pot dish. Somehow trying to get a main meal and side dishes all together and all hot just doesn't come out right for me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother is from Japan and one thing she makes is sushi rolls. She has "Americanized" them so that just about everyone will eat them. I just have the fondest memories of sitting with my mom rolling up the Sushi rolls trying not to get caught eating the fillings. :)
My cooking triumphs
I don't cook that often anymore living with family. My sister pretty much does all the cooking. So anytime I make anything I feel that it's a triumph! Except for the below mentioned tragedy, that is. :)
My cooking tragedies
I had a Foodtv tradegy! I love Rachel Rey and she had a Greek hamburger that looked so good! So I went out and bought all the ingredients and the meat I bought was organic or something. I had never tried organic meat before (it was turkey) and so when I made the burgers and bit into it... Whoa! Not good! I think I will just stick with the Costco ground turkey from now on. ;)

Rempel Family Meatloaf
This was really good. It's true what everyone was saying. My BF doesn't really like meatloaf but really like this version. I followed the directions exactly and cooked for about 55 minutes. I did add the glaze someone suggested with the ketchup and honey and it was a nice added touch. :)

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes
Such a great idea!! Made this for Christmas dinner and it was a hit! I put a towel between the lid and container also so not to make it too watery. Will definately make again.
