About this Cook
I am married to a wonderful hubby and we have 2 "kids" that is 2 adorable Dobermans. I am disabled and went from being a banker to a closet chef, painter, published poet and stained glass maker. God never closes a door without opening a window and I am thankful for my life as it is and love every minute of it.
My favorite things to cook
Beef, Chicken, Soups, Stews and lots of sauces and gravies. Japanese cooking is high on my list of favorites since there are no Japanese places to eat in the small city I live in.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving and Christmas, always my favorite times to get in the kitchen for a couple days and go wild. Lately though I have been cooking up a storm almost every day.
My cooking triumphs
Got mad one day and decided to create a mess for dinner. Threw everything I could think of into the dish and drats!! it turned out great and is now a family favorite. Punishment by food did not work out that day so I gave it up. LOL.
My cooking tragedies
Not to many, thank goodness, but there have been some I cringe to think of.

Moist Carrot Cake
This was a great recipe with a couple alterations as suggested by reviewers. I used 1/2 c oil and 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce. It turned out very moist and was a major hit in my family, my great nephews were over and they loved it so much that the 14yr old asked me for the recipe so he could make it when he got home. Used cream cheese frosting and that topped it off beautifully. Thanks.

Asparagus and Mushroom Puff Pastry Pie
WOW, this was an amazing dish!! I cooked it as written, just added a whole pkg of hollandaise instead of 1 cup and 3 shallots diced. This was a hit with all the family and even my picky hubby loved it. A definite keeper. Thanks so much for posting this one.

Halibut Weaver
Taste was great according to my family (as I don't eat fish) the only thing I was dissappointed with is that the topping never turned golden as in the picture in the time given to cook fish. Maybe it was my fault, I think next time I will turn the broiler on for the last 5 or so minutes. Other then that it was a hit and I am told will be asked for again.
