I'm a 23 year-old college graduate. I recently moved to Portland, Oregon with my boyfriend, and we are having a great time living in the city. I come from a long line of good cooks. My grandmother grew up in the south, and she made the best ribs and sourkraut I've ever had. My mother always encouraged me to experiment in the kitchen. When I was seven I made my first chocolate cake. It rose perfectly and looked beautiful, but it tasted terrible. I've gotten much better since then. About eight months ago I decided to become a vegetarian. My cooking has changed a lot since then, and I'm back to experimenting. I love baking, and I've been coming up with new cookie recipes. I am a very creative person, and I really enjoy baking beautiful things. I have a very small kitchen and I lack lots of the fancy tools that I'd like to own one day. I just do the best that I can. I also make delicious grilled sandwiches. My grandmother always put evaporated milk in her mashed potatoes. Try it. When my experimental Banana Chocolate Pecan cookies turned out delicious, I felt pretty proud of my creation. I had my first crack at my grandmother's sacred biscuit recipe this Thanksgiving, and I failed miserably. The biscuits are extremely difficult to make because the dough is very sticky, and it's easy to get them too thin. My mother has ruined them plenty of times, and this Thanksgiving I took my turn ruining them. They are worth the effort though, because when they are made right, they are delicious.
