About this Cook
I'm a 50 yo high school teacher. Recently divorced and mom of 2 boys - 21 and at college, 15 and home with me. I love anything that saves me time! I love to cook when my family is all together.
My favorite things to cook
Wow. That's a hard one. Turkey dinner. Christams brunch. Christmas cookies and fudge. Here's what I DON'T like: deciding what to cook each night for dinner!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my boys were little we began the tradition of having my parents over for Christmas morning. I would have breakfast ready and we would eat after we opened presents. As the boys have grown, it's become a Christmas Brunch about 10 am for all of the family. Each Christmas I always make a sugar cookie that my mother made. It's just real butter, fine sugar, and flour. They are delicious and always make me think of Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I made Creme Brulee once that was terrific. One New Year's Eve I made home-made Egg Nog which was wonderful!
My cooking tragedies
It's a co-tragedy, but guess it will have to do. :) My youngest wanted to make dumplings and I was to help. He got the recipe, ingredients, etc. and started. I had to answer the phone one time, but he did well alone. We cooked the dumplings and couldn't wait to eat them. When we did we found out that while I was on the phone, he added 1 CUP of salt instead of 1 Tablespoon. We still laugh about that!

Dill Dip
My mom has made this since I was a child as well. Her recipe doesn't use sugar or seasoned salt, but does add 1 tsp of lemon juice (with 1 cup mayo and 1 cup of sour cream), so guess that would be 2 tsps of lemon juice with this recipe.
