I really enjoy having sit down dinner parties. I love having new recipes to create and even change to fit the occasion. I especially love making recipes that people don't expect or may not make themselves. I like cooking trying more difficult recipes but my husband and I do not have a full kitchen with all the bells and whistles yet. So we just make do with what we've got. So far we're enjoying pies, cakes, new pasta dishes, and hearty soups, but mostly we love making anything sweet. My mother is an excellent cook and usually she makes traditional Black food with occasional African recipes. At family gatherings we usually have homemade mac & cheese, collard greens, turkey, chicken, sweet potatoes, seafood salad, baked beans and a dessert that seems to always change. I have learned how to fix almost any cooking mistake that I've made, but I believe that my triumps are that I understand how most foods taste together and am able to modify recipes to suit my audience and myself. I can also whip things up and they are usually quite tasty. I made a casserole once and I didn't think about the fact that I added mayo and salad dressing to the ingredients and I baked it, after one bite I almost threw up. My husband won't let me live it down whenever we bring up casseroles hahaha.
