I took cooking and bakery classes in my country (Peru), since I was a teenager and enjoy trying new recipes at home. Over the years I was updating and practicing my knowledge to improve it. I had the chance to learn different kind of foods in the countries where I lived (Spain and Mexico), and now here in the U.S.,too., and I have the chance to cook for small private parties on Thanksgiving Day and Jewish Holidays.
My favorite things to cook
Broiled Pork,Turkey and Chicken. Shrimp or Chicken in garlic sauce. Brisket. Rice in different combinations.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since I remember, celebrating Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve was an event at home besides every other preparation, Cooking the traditional supper was an expectation in my family. We still keep the special recipe from my mom, for marinating the Turkey, mashed sweet potatoes and hot chocolate... etc, and we enjoy it every year.
My cooking triumphs
When I ran a small restaurant in Catalunya (Spain) and my broiled chicken (pollo a la brasa o pollo al'ast), or broiled rabbit was a real success, it was always sold out.

Here in New York, the Turkeys I use to prepare for Thanksgiving, are always gone before the end of the parties.
After these experiences; this year I began a little bussiness with my mom's recipe for marinating
poultry and meat. My friends are enjoying it and I'm excited sharing what I inherited from her, God bless her!
My cooking tragedies
I was rushing at a party and I put mashed sweet potatoes in the oven to make marshmallows on top looking a little golden brown to be ready to serve but I kept doing something else and forgot about the dish in the oven until a strong smell of burning invade the kitchen....!!!!! Well, it was a hard time for me opening windows and doors to make the smoke go away. I save the dish immediately taking it out of the oven, removing burned marshmallows and replacing them again... the mashed sweet potatoes by itself was OK. and the flavor was rich....Believe or Not.
