I'm old and getting older by the day. Five years ago I joined Weight Watchers and lost 35 lb. I've actually kept it off, by finding new recipes without all the awful (meaning delicious) stuff. I exercise LOTS so I can eat LOTS. I've lived in the same house for 47 years, on the waters of Puget Sound. I've also lived in Scotland for 2-1/2 years. Wonderful country.
My favorite things to cook
Not much of anything. I've kind of given up trying to cook. It gets pretty boring after 40+ years of trying to come up with anything interesting. Especially since anything good is SO fattening. That's why I'm on this site - I've already found some interesting stuff.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Of course the family Thanksgiving dinner (turkey and the rest) and Christmas Eve dinner (ham, potato pudding, pistachio salad, asparagus, pumpkin pie). We also have a family barbecue every summer with lots of food, drink, swimming, games, and even a sleepover on our dock.
My cooking triumphs
A cheese/potato/sour cream concoction that the grandkids call "Potato Pudding." It is so good that I have to make a double recipe when I serve it - it disappears really, really fast.
My cooking tragedies
Making a Tunnel of Fudge cake in the microwave for my son's 21st birthday. I guessed how long to zap it. I guessed wrong. I took it to the bar where he was celebrating. You couldn't force a knife through it. Everyone managed to tear off a piece and had a great time with a "cake fight." If anyone had been hit in the head, he/she would have been knocked out!
