About this Cook
My name is Jessica and I am a mother of an overly energetic incredible 2 yr old. My sons name is Preston Michael and is the light of my life. I am a Restaurant Manager for Red Robin. I have been in the Restaurant Management business for 4 yrs and have been in the Restaurant business for 9 years. My inspirations for cooking are: Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart. Love them!
My favorite things to cook
I'm originally from Kansas City so my favorite thing to cook is BBQ. I come from a family that has excelled in making the best original bbq sauce and smoked ribs that I have ever had in my life. However, I really enjoy cooking many other things. I love the fall/winter time for using my crock pot. I am a slow cooker junkie! I also love baking and have just began becoming more comfortable with cake decorating it is something that I have really began to enjoy doing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my favorite family cooking traditions is a tradition that started when I was as young as I can remember. Every St. Patricks day my sister and I would wake up in the morning and we would make green pancakes with my father for breakfast. It's been a tradition that I have passed onto my son. Every St.Patricks day we keep the tradition going (seeing as tho we are Irish) and have even went as far as putting food coloring in our milk. It's fun. We also enjoy a trip to Mcdonalds for a Shamrock Shake!!!
My cooking triumphs
Although I have never entered anything into a contest. I would like to say my sons 2nd birthday cakes I made this year were a personal triumph. I decorated a Go Diego Go cake and also a Lightning McQueen cake that turned out amazing!
My cooking tragedies
My mother recently this last year found out that she had type 2 diabetes and for her birthday this year I found a diabetic chocolate cake to bake for her. I must say it turned out quite bad. The cake was overly dry and crumbled. Definitly not my happiest moment.
